Alison Kawa with My Pet Monster
Young Alison with My Pet Monster

I grew up in the Midwest as the middle of five kids, which was enough trauma to generate a lifetime supply of character. I trained as an opera and Broadway singer in high school, and I acted in a number of plays and musicals.

My drama skills laid dormant until I joined the Weinbach musical Made in China in San Francisco three weeks before opening night in February 2013, and starred in their next production A Match Made in Hell in the fall that same year.

I started my standup career in San Francisco, and portayed Battle Woman in the Internet comedy series Neighborhood Watchmen with my fellow comedians, which follows superheroes in an office setting.

I moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles, where I studied acting with Rob Zimmerman at Beverly Hills Playhouse, trained with a private singing coach, and learned improv at Bay Area Theatresports.

I trained in Los Angeles at Krater Studios with Jen Krater and Paolo Pagliacolo, and took a couple levels of improv at UCB.

I wrote, produced, and co-starred in comedy sketches, and even debuted an act on The Gong Show.

I am currently looking for theatrical and commercial representation in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
